gEDA-user: gsch2pcb search path
Cite from the most recent bug report filed by Peter B:
/-----------------
At the moment, the paths used by gsch2pcb for accessing PCB footprints
are fixed at compile time. This means that if the user installs a new copy
of PCB to somewhere else in their path, gsch2pcb would need to be
recompiled and reinstalled in order to be able to access the correct
footprint libraries.
\-----------------
Alternatively, the path can be given as an otion on the commandline:
gsch2pcb -v --use-files --skip-m4 --elements-dir $HOME/geda/footprints $1
Or as an option in the project file, like Bills tutorial suggests.
/------------------
gsch2pcb should be more intelligent about looking for PCB's installation
directory etc. at runtime, in order to avoid this problem.
\------------------
It should look into ~/.pcb/preferences and ~/.pcb/settings
And while it is there, it should also extract the default layer stack :-)
