Klaus, you may realign the grid.  That might help.  Also, by reducing the grid
pitch, you may also get closer to what you are after.

If you want to align multiple buffer-pastes but don't care too much about the
absolute position you can use ctrl-M to set a reference and zoom in on the
area you're working on and read your cursor position in the position box (top
right).

Note: ctrl-M is a toggling tool.  You have to set it and unset it in the place
you want it
