Tk requires code written in tcl.

Tk is separate from tcl and can be used without tcl. There are Tk bindings for many languages such as python and lisp.

AFAIK, parts of Tk are written in tcl:

$ nm  /usr/local/lib/libtk8.0.so | grep Tcl_ | wc -l
    122
$ nm  /usr/local/lib/libtk8.0.so | grep Tcl_
         U Tcl_AddErrorInfo
         U Tcl_Alloc
         U Tcl_AllowExceptions
         U Tcl_AppendElement
         U Tcl_AppendResult
...

It does not look like its easy to use Tk without tcl.
