Hi, I read something about the SVG capabilities of Safari (WebKit.org based web browser) in the morning. After the reading, I thought it could also be possible to implement a complete SVG based file format for schematics. After some reading of the SVG standard specification, I wrote a basic schematic sheet with on Microchip PIC16F873A embedded in it. It does not have any nets nor other components. It's just a sample. The resulting file I send you as an attachment. You can view it in any SVG capable browser (Safari, Firefox 3, newest Opera) or with the Adobe SVG Viewer. To view the code, use any UTF-8 capable text editor. I think a SVG based schematic format would have huge advantage over other formats. One is that you could view any schematics direct in a web browser without need of any EDA Software installed. Regards k8b
