It is not only pcb that "reads" the schematic, but humans, too. During 
debugging I need to know which pins to poke my probe at. This is only 
possible, if the schematic shows actual pin numbers.

It would make the schematic useless for the creation of a BOM.

Is there any other EDA software that does footprint selection and slotting 
in the layout tool?
