Re: gEDA-user: Getting a grip on designators in PCB?

Bob,

I have had similar experiences. Often when I can't grip the designator I grab then entire foot print move it a bit and then see if i can grip the designator. In the versions I have been using this seems to work.

From time to time I end up with PCB elements that are impossible to get a grip
on the element designators. Below is a simple test case of two resistors.

On my system I can get a hold of the R2 designator and move it, do what ever I want, but the R1designator is impossible to get a hold of to move it. You can move R1 as a whole, but not the R1 designator, you just can't get a hold of it to move it.

The PCB file was created with this sequence:
Draw Schematic in gEDA, from January CVS.
Use gattrib from 20050315 to add footprints.
Use gsch2pcb 20050315 to create pcb.
Test with pcb 20050315.

Can you move the R1 designator on your system?

What is going on to prevent R1 designator from being moved?
