Re: gEDA-user: gschem cvs repo issue FC6

Thanks super, Stuart.  I'm used to the 'configure / make / make install' paradigm, but the instructions for the cvs install were a little different--make runs a short script which spits out the export defs, and then I run make install.  My error turned out to be that as I was installing FC6 I was using sudo for the make installs, and the cvs install seemed to need me to run it as root (su -).  It made/installed as root just fine.

Your idea about having geda in a different place is a really good one--does anyone know where the FC6 repo defaults to putting geda?  I had thought /opt/geda *was* a different place :) but probing around my system now, I realize I may be wrong!

Thanks *super* for the help last night,
Craig

When you finally do get gEDA to build on your system, I recommend you
install it into a separate directory in your file hierarchy.  I
usually use /usr/local/geda as the place to put all my gEDA stuff.
The reason is that if I ever want to nuke the old version and install
a new one, all I need to do is rm the /usr/local/geda directory.  This
is much easier than looking through all the files in /usr/lib and
/user/bin searching for the gEDA files to delete.  More info here:
