The non-ability to have text in footprints is a known non-feature.
And yes, it is on my wish list, too ;-)
pstoedit can convert postscript to pcb format.
This is, what I would try:
1) Write the desired text in inkscape
2) Save as encapsulated postscript (epsi) with text converted to paths
3) Convert to pcb format with pstoedit
4) Import to pcb via "load-layout-data-to-paste-buffer"
