I fiddled with it several years ago.  Not much harder than VHDL,
although certainly more verbose.  And one can allegedly work at a much
higher level...  assuming you are comfortable with C++.

ISTR that some companies now offer synthesis tools which accept
SystemC intput.  I dunno how widespread this usage is.
