I don't know, usually the problem is avoiding having too much solder
on the pad and pushing the chip UP and breaking the connections to the
pins.

I suppose with a little experimentation you'll know just how much of a
lump of solder to put on that pad so you can get everything soldered,
perhaps needing a small press on the top to get everything into the
liquid solder.
