1. The consumer
2. The developer
3. The developer's owner
4. The re-developer
5. The re-developer's owner
4. The re-re-developer
5. The re-re-developer's owner

BSD licenses protect the re-developer's owner, at the expense of 
everyone else.

GPL protects all but the "owners" at the expense of 
the "owners".  

Proprietary licenses protect the owners at the expense of 
everyone else.  They do not protect the developers.

(People can be owned????)

Only GPL protects both the consumer and developer (and all 
re-developers).

BSD licenses exist for the purpose of transferring technology to 
the proprietary, enabing a proprietary fork.
