Thanks for the thought.  We'll take it into consideration.  There are
two sides to this:

*  Some users don't want the bloat of examples & test suites.
*  Having one tarball makes life easy for those users who do, and also for
    the developers who won't have to manage a second tarball.

I'm toying with creating a Python-based test suite for gerbv.  The
test suite would be built on unittest.py, which is a standard
framework for unit testing. If I do this, then the amount of bloat in
the code will increase to the point where I do think it will be a good
idea to have separate tarballs.

Right now the examples are already bundled, so taking them out
requires some developer effort.  I won't promise that they will be
spun out for the (hopefully soon forthcoming) 1.0.3 release, but we
can consider removing them after that.
