Thanks guys. I built gd-2.0.35RC5 from source with no problems, and then pcb compiled. I also tried 'sudo apt-get build-dep pcb'. I didn't know about the 'build-dep' option. I like that, so I did it and there were four or five programs that got installed.

Since _a_ version of PCB is in the Ubuntu repositories, this can be a
quick start to get what you need to build that particular version.
Things should not have changed too much in terms of build requirements
since then.

sudo apt-get build-dep pcb

That should help get you started.


'PCB 20100929' runs fine now.

P.S. Will my Ubuntu 10.04 system get confused if I install both the Synaptic package of pcb along with the compiled version?
