Lattice's in the last few weeks have released a "Low Cost" line of FPGA's.

Actel gets very little press time. They have nice parts and when I did
a comparisons of the Altera, Lattice, Xilinx software several years ago now,
their software was easier to use. Don't know how it stands today.
If you need RadHard parts there is not a lot of choice but Actel.

QuickLogic is an other low press time company.

LSI Logic gets lots of press time usually financially related
rather than of items of interest to us. http://www.lsilogic.com/
AMI Semi. http://www.amis.com/ is a niche player with an interesting product
line. I've been thinking of approaching them for doing a custom design for
my company.
There is also the reincarnation of Motorola's Analog FPGA line, called a FPAA.

Zetex better known for their transistors and FETs have a similar product
offering. http://www.zetex.com/ in their TRAC series.

I know there are a few more extremely specialized players out there as well.
What I want to see from any of these players is a high performance part
with few pins, like 8 to 16 pins. I frequently find applications for such a
part but a 144 pin package just doesn't fit on my board, in some cases it was
larger than my board.
