That was an incredible leap from "if you want fancy features, buy the
package with fancy features".  In fact, it's such an incredible leap
that I can't even see how you came to that conclusion at all.  Perhaps
what you meant was "people who want the same thing, can work together
to achieve it."  If you want something different than what we want,
that's OK, but if you want US to make it happen, you have to provide
some reason for us to do it.  Open source is about YOU being able to
make it happen, not about having free lackeys to cater to your every
whim.  You share the benefits from our work, but we also share the
benefits from your work.

I think we've been very open minded about this.  We've listened to you
describe your workflow, and tried to understand why you think your way
is better.  We've explained how we use the tools and why they work the
way they do, so that you can see where we're coming from.  We've tried
to help you consider other ways of managing your workflow, which may
allow you to use existing tools (ours or others) more effectively.
We've pointed out that you can add the functionality yourself, and
we're certainly willing to help you get started with that.  Through
all this, you insist that your way is the only way that will work,
you've discredited all that we've had to offer, and you've made no
effort to learn how to change it yourself.  You brushed off my own
personal tale of process automation, even though I spent four years
automating a release process with two thousand engineers and another
four thousand support, marketing, and manufacturing people.

Not once did you say to us "gee, that sounds interesting.  How can it
help me?" or "How can I help make this happen?"

I think you have sorely misunderstood the driving forces behind open
source and free software, and how to get the most benefit from them.
Go back and read the thread, and look at it from our side.  What's in
it for us?  We don't get paid for our work.  We don't sell anything.
We don't even have customers.  What are you offering us?
