It's an interesting concept.  I have no idea how much functional
change you can do without doing serious hacking in the source code.

It would certainly be an interesting project.

I have downloaded it - and it basically works - but there are a number of
annoying bugs and hardly any playable levels.  The 'author' is a sizable
team from what I can see - and they are obviously working hard (at least
judging by the number of new versions they churn out and the amount of change
from one to the next).  It just seems to be taking an inordinate amount of
time to get it completed.
