So indeed there is a bug there, can you please compile from next git
repo/branch:
  https://github.com/azat/libevent.git be-openssl-fd-reset-fix

And check does it fix the issue for you?

I'd tested it with openssl 1.1 and unit test, and it works:
$ regress --no-fork http/https_connection
http/https_connection: OK
1 tests ok.  (0 skipped)
