I actually ran into the same thing, 

I'm working with some friends on an Final Fantasy style RPG(much smaller
the two biggest problems I've run into have been Sound and 3d models, we've
only got one artist and she's new to 3d art, so we wanted to find some
basic models she could either improve on or use as background. 
Sorry If I rambled on or went off topic, I have a tendancy to do that, but
the point is that if a repository of such sounds, art etc. doesn't exist,
it may be a good Idea to start one. any suggestions?
