From similar statistical work, I concur with this general assesment.
I do see about 20% more onions online. Though the actual content
of onionland is not within scope, I would guesstimate a somewhat
higher 'have [ever] shared ... on purpose' count. And mixed in with
the recent influx of drug/bitcoin/product scam splashpages are a
few historically legitimate non-marketplace-based merchants (a now
antique model). Though a lot of the content is technically legal
(the lens of free speech or subject to jurisdictional variation /
reach), there are few free speech zones on the clearnet that would
put up with the complaints.
