A Tor appliance would be actually a selling point for a SheevaPlug.

In any case people who don't want to have a 300 W PC running all the
time to operate a Tor node might be interested. Or maybe a benefactor
can spend some money (1000 USD buys you >10 nodes, 10 kUSD >>100 nodes)
to be distributed to volunteers free of charge who must promise to run
Tor nodes (or at least middle-men) for a couple years.

Since someone mentioned the ShivaPlug, you may be interested in Yoggie of the JanusPA.
Just throwing that out there.
