Re. Examples...
I was using wrong terminology, I meant some example apps which use pygame,
e.g. Yass runs perfectly on this machine.
(I'm going to try downloading Yass source next, if that works (I can
modify it) then surely I must have a working pygame ...)


Re.  'as a last resort...'
I had thought that a precompiled version was what I was using now, I most
recently wiped everything and installed
pygame-1.1.win32-py2.1.exe, which produced the ./prebuilt directory, which
perhaps I've done the wrong thing with ?
