It can work, if you include msvcrt71.dll with your
application. However, that's not exactly an option
for users who do not own a copy of MSVC 7

If you don't include the dll, it may work on peoples
computers who already have the dll on their system.
However, many people don't. Thus you either need to
supply the dll or you need to use python 2.3.
