I agree, the left box could be smaller.

On my System, the right box is smaller than the left box, different from your 
Firefox Screenshot.

I guess this is because on my Firefox the date is above the images and thus 
the box is smaller.

I don't know why it's different on your machine, though?

Or has the page been changed since you made the screenshot?

I run Firefox 1.0.4. My default Desktop resolution is 1280x1024, maybe that 
has something to do with it?
