[pygame] Help with OS X install

I've been working on getting pygame 1.5.3 installed under OS X (10.2).
Korruptor had posted a note here about doing this with the default SDL-devel
pkg. This worked for me on my TiBook that had a previous install of Bob
Ippolito's kitchen-sink package still laying around, although I think it was
making use of the old SDL install. However, trying to build and install on
a new/clean 10.2 system is not working. BTW, I'm using/trying to use the
default python 2.2 installed with Jaguar.

- installed SDL-devel pkg (OK)
- did setup.py for pygame -> config script bombs out because it can't find
sdl-config
- tried build of SDL from scratch -> results in creation of sdl-config in
/usr/local/bin (which wasn't there before)
- tried again, bombs on build, because various lib paths have not been set
up correctly (apparently can't find the SDL stuff at all)

I realize that I'm leaving out some significant details, but at the moment I
don't have access to the machine (o/w, I'd post exact messages, etc.). Any
pointers on what to patch up? Will this work, or do I need a different
build of python and/or SDL? I'll probably leave this untouched for a couple
of weeks (other priorities), but I might actually attempt to write up the
procedure for other newbies if/when I can get it working (how's that for
commitment?).

Thanks for any ideas!

Bill
