I try to run e-mail clients that display text only. It's more secure
than e-mail clients that try to display scripts or web pages.
Sylpheed or alpine are both good e-mail systems that display e-mails
as text. I believe is alpine is available via Cygwin. There may be
some stand-alone versions that are built with Cygwin libraries.
Sylpheed is cross-platform. Make sure you look for Sylpheed, not
Sylpheed Claws (a fork with a lot of added features which could be
less secure). Thunderbird is nice, but it can display e-mails as web
pages. I personally prefer Sylpheed. I used Foxmail on Windows
before switching to Sylpheed for similar reasons. However, Foxmail
wasn't Open Source, so I looked for the closest Open Source
equivalent.
