[school-discuss] [Fwd: Re: [Fwd: Re: Printmaster in Linux]]
I received this this morning in reply to a query I sent to
Andreas about CDox (http://cdox.sourceforge.net). I am not a
java coder, and don't currently have the time to become competent
in java to do this, but I'd like to see it investigated further.
Would anyone here be interested in looking into this?--Doug

Hi,
it might be possible to use some code from CDox to integrate it
into such a project, but it might be a bit difficult. Our
printing quality is quite good, but it is not (yet) designed to
support variable sizes of paper.
Currently we are working on a C++ version (Windows only) of CDox
and thus do not have much time left. After this work is done, we
will probably make a rewrite of the Java version and could
support more general printing/designing. Also, a general purpose
.jar library that supports such features is something to think
of. But until we get to this point, the C++ version will
definitely need at least half a year to be completed.
Of course we don't mind being asked some specific questions about
CDox code, if others want to do it (it's Open Source, after all),
we would even be delighted to see our code quality (im-)prooved
by another program...
Regards, Andreas
