http://www.linuxtraining.co.uk/ provides a "Linux System Administration Linux Professional Institute (LPI) Certification Level 1 Exam 101" to download.

It is not for beginners, and they state on the site that it is intended for professional trainers. Having flicked through, I consider that the TOC and beginning chapters could be used as an overview for beginners with an experienced Linux trainer.

The PDF is free to download and is covered by the Linux Training Materials Copying Licence. See the Download page for more information.

Perhaps follow up required sections with HOWTOs from http://www.tldp.org/.

All the best
