As well as being underutilized, it is a great way to learn of things you have only seen from the
corner of your eye. There is a fine sense of community that comes from the folks on irc
channels that are not over-run with the manic gossip-mongers. a final bonus, you can bounce
random ideas at 3 am local time, and usually find someone around before the creativty fades into
sleep.
