[seul-edu] ISO Phase 3: Coordination
To coordinate the efforts for phase 3, I recommend that we start posting
weekly status reports. This will allow everyone on the phase 3 effort
and also interested in phase 3 progress to monitor how the task is
going. A format that I think would work is like the following:
Application: OpenWebSchool
Status: Yellow
Assignment: Not Assigned
Notes: Currently available Debian package does not conform to
FHS and does not configure web server.
Action Items:
1) Initial investigation of software.
Status: Complete
Assignment: Darryl Palmer
Due Date: ?
Notes: Was able to locate app distribution source and find
Debian package for it.

2) Contact Debian maintainer to fix debian package to be FHS compliant.
Status: Not Assigned
Assignment: None
Due Date: ?
Notes: To be assigned.

The description of the format is as follows:
Application - Name of the application
Status - The status of the current application. Can be Green, no
hold-ups and it is possible to move forward to being packaged or assign
to someone to package, Yellow, currently on hold waiting for
communication or some problem to be resolved before it can be packaged,
or Red, app is currently removed from phase 3 and no more work will be
done until it is resubmitted.
Assignment - The champion of the packaging of the current application,
this is the person that is responsible for making sure things get done,
not necessarily the one doing the work. (Best one line description of
my boss).
Notes - Notes on app or current status of app.
Action Items - list of all action items on app.
Status - Status of Action item can be:
Not Assigned - Action item has not been assigned
to anyone.
Not Started - Action item has been assigned but
no work has been done.
Started - Action item has been started and is
progressing.
Hold - Action item has been put on
hold.
Complete - Action item is complete.
Cancelled - Action item has been
cancelled/killed. It may be no longer needed or necessary.
Assignment - Person assigned to perform action.
Due Date - Due date for action item to be completed.
Notes - Notes for action items
References - References for action item, can refer to messages by
html links or other web pages.
The status reports could probably be posted separately and we may or may
not need to post an overall status report that just lists the apps,
champion, and status. How does this sound? Is it overkill? The
downside is that there will be 20 or so emails a week just stating the
status of different apps.
