LinuxWorld Conference Item

I just got back from the Exhibit Floor
at the LINUX World Conference in San
Jose (90 miles) and was excited. There
was an interesting array of vendors and
such, as is normal for these shows.

What was exciting is the placement, in
the CALDERA booth, of the Kern County
Superintendent of Schools (California).
It seems that they are working together
on a K-12 project.

I am from the Kern County area (High
school and Junior College) and am quite
surprised. This is the area used by
John Steinbeck as a setting for the
Grapes of Wrath, which was subsequently
banned. This is an area filled with
cowboy wannabees and oilfield roughnecks
and farm laborers.

From the few moments I got at the booth,
the project is a complete network
solution from the Supers desk down to
the students and the teachers including
web access.

More Later.
