If you are running as root, I'd say you don't deserve any better. It's like
those driving without seat-belts or ride bikes without helmets etc... 

That said on linux there are as of now no e-mail program (perhaps except
Gnus) where you have the ability to run a program or script by simply
opening your e-mail. Neither is there a one that gives you the ability
to double click on an attached script/program to run it.

you have to save it to disc, then perhaps apply chmod a+x and finally
start the script/program.

Then I'd rather look at LyX.
