Re: what's wrong with doze and good with linux?



Agree on that one with Erik.

As far as I've seen, scientists are 'tired' of the following:

OS (Win 3x/95): Unstable, poor use of machine resources, slow,
                poor optimization of kernel;
                
Win98 will be similar  (or  worse):  Read  it'd require more machine
resources and will be optimized for a chip which yet has  to  appear
in the market.

Software: Marketing strategies of software industry (modularization:
          if you want X buy module A and if you want Y buy module B;
          to get Z you should  upgrade  to version V(n) ...  a never
          ending story;
          
          Low cost effectivity of commercial software; low  quality;
          lies in announcements, bugs;
