Lifestreams: An Alternative to the Desktop Metaphor

This is the current topic of Talk of the Nation, Science Friday, hosted
by Ira Flatow.  Today's guest is David Gelernter (one of the Unabomber's
victims).  He's a longtime critic of the arcanity of existing computer
systems, and has been developing an alternative system "Lifestreams". 
It looks to be similar in concept to Lotus Notes, MS Outlook, Yoga, or
Casbah.
