Because that's what's on the datasheet.

I see it all the time. For example, here's a blurb that gives both  
with priority to metric:

And for a crazy mix of metric and imperial size codes, look at:

And yes, I do use metric codes for tantalums, as there don't seem to  
be corresponding imperial codes for the sizes I commonly use.
