We had this discussion on the Argo list recently and I have to defend reverse
engineering in any way (I wrote a Java reverse engineering for Argo). I think
it's more about have the choice of different abstraction layers. It may not be
very obvious at a first look, but take a look a Osvaldo Pinali Doederleins PhD
