Twice?  Or half?  It looks like $300-$400 retail, but only $200 on
eBay (used).
Twice...I don't buy anything retail. I let someone else take that hit. ;) I paid about $100 for mine, if memory serves.

Still, I was hoping to spend less.  I don't solder nearly enough to
justify an "expensive" iron if I can avoid it.
This is a good point, but if you solder *at all*, something like this is worth it. Maybe let the frequency of your soldering bump you down to buying a used one rather than a new one.
