Heh.  We originally targeted EDN, but the EDA editor there was totally
allergic to open-source projects.  Therefore, we decided to look for
other venues.  Maybe we'll try EDN again in a year.

We decided to go to Circuit Cellar because CC's audience seems to be
engineers who like to play with both HW and SW.  It also has a strong
hobbiest/DIY readership.  Therefore, an article about gEDA is a
natural fit.  The articles are part of a campaign to "get the word
out".  

BTW:  The original article was about 5000 words and had some quotes
from various gEDA users who read this list.   Unfortunately (or
perhaps fortunately), the article was edited down to around 3000 words
in a couple of stages, both  by us, as well as by the CC editors.  The
user testimonials are one of the areas that got cut.  So if you are
one of those users, we want to thank you for taking your time to send
in quotes  :-) , and apologize that they're not there  :-(  .  That's
life!
