I don't want to start a flame, but I think this is not the case. MS makes the user think that she/he needs exactly what MS offers!

...and that there's NO OTHER WAY to get the same functionality. Witness all the poor saps who insist that they "NEEEEEEEEEED" Microsoft Office in order to be a productive employee.
