For hobby use, I doubt if they notice.  Even for pro use.  Have 
you see the symbols you get with some of the high priced 
packages?  The gEDA symbols really look good by comparison.  The 
gEDA symbols are better looking than the Kicad symbols.  Of 
course I won't complain if they get better.

There is a need for a migration path, for migrating both 
schematics and symbols.
