I believe it is (or > was intended to be) removed in GTK 3.0. If tear-off menus are going to go away in GTK, perhaps pcb could provide a more suitable replacement in the form of customizable dockable tool bars or something. The reason I have used tear-off menus is to (1) make grid size selectable with a single mouse click, and (2) to make the Settings menu items available for single mouse click access to turn on and off settings that I VERY frequently need to change, especially "Crosshair Snaps to Pins and Pads" and "Lock Names". If pcb provided a replacement, it would hopefully be superior to tear-off menus. The tear-off menus do take up a lot of screen real estate, too, when all I need is quick access to a few items. > I can reproduce the bug, but only for the torn-off menus themselves. > sub-menus of a torn off menu work correctly. Same here. If I tear off the View menu, I can use the torn-off menu to pop up the Grid Size sub menu and it works. However, tearing the View > Grid Size menu itself does not work (it's nearly a requirement to tear off the Grid Size menu because it's the only way for me to stay sane...). > Can anyone reproduce with a different application which uses tear off > menus? I tried to find another app on my Ubuntu system that uses tear-off menus but have not found one yet. Regards, Colin
