I recently did a similar search. I had to modify a pal in a 15 year old design, and the original tools are long gone.
It seems no one is using 22v10s any more in new designs, and it is difficult to find software.
One of the final versions of palasm from MMI/AMD has been made free as in beer. It is a DOS program. http://vision.ece.uic.edu/class/ece465/palasm/ With some trickery I was able to install it on windows xp. It will probably work in dosemu. AMD has since spun off their pld division to Vantis. You might search there as well.
Palasm is not pretty, but you can't get much in a 22v10 anyway, so it doesn't really matter.
I do not think there is any working PAL software for Linux/Unix.
Atmel also has some free(beer) software for windows that seems to work under wine, I did a design with it about 2 years ago. I think you have to register and they send you a key.
I am looking for software to generate JEDEC files that can be programmed into 22v10 PAL's and some of the older MACH isp parts. Is there anything open source that is available that will run under Linux?
I found Icarus PAL, but it only seems to read JEDEC files, not write them. I know that Icarus Verilog will generate EDIF format. Are there any tools that will fit the EDIF to JEDEC files for 22v10's or MACH parts?
We have been using the Lattice Design Direct software under Windows 98. We have pretty much have to reinstall Windows plus the application software every semester because by the end of each semester the machines are pretty much flakey due to viruses, spyware, adware, etc. I am hoping to reduce these problems by moving to Linux. The Lattice software starts up under wine, but causes an "unhandled exception" when trying to open or create a new project file...
Thanks, Bill.
