I'm not trying to evangelize GTK here but I'm curious why you choose other (not really modern) toolkits rather than the new ones (which should be better).

GTK is a bloated pig. I'd not call that "better" by any measure. There's nothing legacy/proprietary/commercial about Lesstif, Athena, or Tk. They're all available, free, well-understood, well-documented...and screaming fast even on very old hardware.


Don't assume that just because something is new, or because it's used in the Linux world, that it's automatically better.

That said, I totally love the GTK version of PCB. It'd just be even better without the bloat.
