Yes, I just spent some time on the SDCC main site.
It was not the whole package that I was concerned about before, but its 
support for the PIC family in specific.

I found two really nice tutorials, so I may give it a go and see if I 
can work up some code to test it out.
The simulator gpsim looks very interesting but I guess its stand alone 
from SDCC.
