Yes, I just spent some time on the SDCC main site.
It was not the whole package that I was concerned about before, but its support for the PIC family in specific.


I found two really nice tutorials, so I may give it a go and see if I can work up some code to test it out.
The simulator gpsim looks very interesting but I guess its stand alone from SDCC.

I've used SDCC (targeting 8051) for commercial products, even as far back as two years ago. It has been ready for prime time for quite awhile now.
