Yeah, elements are not just classes of PCBs, they have their own data
structure and support routines. It would be nice if they were just
sub-pcbs, it would allow many more things, like subassemblies.

Yup. I added that myself in the near past, because all the spec
sheets I had measured things that way. So I added code to look for
rectangles and convert them too. If you explode an element, it
converts back to lines though.
