gEDA-user: Symbol version mismatch

Hello

gschem is writing this when executed in batch file
WARNING: Symbol version mismatch on refdes S1 (switch-spdt-2.sym):
        Symbol in library is newer than instantiated symbol
        MAJOR VERSION CHANGE (file 1.000, instantiated 0.000, S1)!

and when executed interactively it says "Be sure to verify each of these
symbol!" - what is this verification? Is there some description how to
perform symbol verification in the user documentation? If I perform a
symbol verification, will the message go away? If not, how do I make this
message go away? I don't want to patch the schematic file manually
because I could introduce a mistake.
