Sure, a make based way to set up the "easy views" to a project circuit sounds workable.
Some, exp. fritzing artists, would want a GUI front end to it though...without limiting other uses
of the tools at all.

One way to keep everything in sync would be to run the make every time you move the mouse from one view-type window
to another view-type window.   (And of course, those with large array designs could just not use the GUI, or turn off the
automatic make runs triggered by the mouse moves).

Using make or scons wouldn't even require DBUS connectivity, and in the case of make wjould not add any new library dependencies.
