Some things *were* surprising.  I originally made it because my

The biggest problem isn't standby or on power, but how often devices
are used.  How often does the well pump run?  The septic pump?  Which
lights are on the most?  What about hidden power uses (like our
waterbed, or the fan in the furnace)?

Those are the questions the powermeter board is designed to answer.
Knowing *energy* usage, total over the month, lets us decide what
changes are worth the investment and/or inconvenience.
