Well, I'm absolutely giving up on this. I even went so far as to
delete the refdes attributes from the various library symbols I use,
making sure that every symbol in use has a refdes defined at the
schematic level. And to make matters worse, gschem is confusing my
local symbols with those provided standard with the gEDA distribution.
It's time to just bail from the project and start over from scratch,
with a known-good installation of gEDA, and all brand-spanking-new
schematics. I don't know what went wrong, or how it went wrong, but
it did, and now my project is irretrievably useless. :( :( :(

It looked like gnetlist was using the refdes attribute of a symbol
(which one? They all use U? as their default refdes, of course)
instead of what was defined in the schematic. So, to attempt to
localize this, I removed the refdes attribute of all the symbols used
by my schematic. That did nothing to alleviate the problem.

I think it should be a permanent and consistent given that any
attribute defined at the level of the schematic should override the
corresponding attribute found in a symbol file.

I now need to re-install my gEDA installation, because (a) I don't
want to hand-edit all the symbols I hacked, and (b) I know there is a
newer release available, and now's as good a time to upgrade as any.
