This can also be a problem with the RPMS directory, even with just a plain
RH install (if files were downloaded). See Rod Smith's RH docs (links
below) for issues which can come up with installing from a Dos Fat32
partition. Look for a link to the "mv" utility which you can use to rename
the case-offending directory.

You should be able to properly rename (from Win/Dos) the Independence dir
because it is  a long filename. However you cannot re-case the RPMS
directory because it is a short filename without mv. The procedure for
using mv in the middle of the installation is on Rod's page.
