RE: [kidsgames] Equipment Survey

I joined this list as I have a 6yo and a 2yo who like playing on the
computer. The windows games have fairly good content, but I feel are poorly
programmed (e.g. 640x480x256 required). I'd love to migrate to Linux, but
find games are one of the reasons I haven't.

I'm not much of a programmer, mainly play wither Perl/cgi stuff, but
interested none-the-less.

Now my machines:

server:	Compaq 486/66
		2.0 gb HD
		ADSL
Redhat 6.1 (no X) with IP Masq for upstairs computer
		no monitor
(hey, if I can't admin it from upstairs, I carry my monitor
down!)

"play" computer:
		PII 300
		6.4 Gig drive
		4 Gig windows Partition
2 Gig Partition waiting for ?Linux install
ATI 8 Meg AGP Xpert@work card
		17" Monitor
		HP Photosmart slide/neg scanner
MS Sidewinder 3D joystick (for flight-sim)
10 Base 2 network connection to server

portable computer
		Tandy Model 102
		32 K memory
		300 baud modem
		8 x 40 LCD screen
(hey -- great for text/html entry on the road! 2 second
startup, 20 hours on 4 AA cells)

I'm planning on lurking and learning. I'll give some input if I think it
will be of use.

Thanks for the initiative guys.
